United Eswatini Diaspora

Empowering Swazi Citizens for Democratic Reforms and Human Rights Advocacy

United Eswatini Diaspora is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization dedicated to fighting for human rights and working towards justice, democratic governance, and Inclusive government in Eswatini.

The United Eswatini Diaspora (UED) is legally registered in the Republic of South Africa as a non-profit organization.

The UED was formed to consolidate diaspora humanitarian efforts and provide a unified response for survivors and families affected by the June 2021 Civil Unrest.

The Eswatini government invokes uncodified Customary Law to suppress freedom of expression. As the Head of State is customarily deemed “infalible,” criticism of the Monarcrch is treated as contempt, preventing public scrutiny of executive actions.

In June 2021, long-standing resentment over human rights violations culminated in unprecedented protest. What began as youth-led demonstrations against police brutality escalated into a nationwide demand for political reform across all 59 constituencies. .

A) Opposition to the US. Deportation Deal

We condemn the reported agreement where Eswatini serves as a third-country deportation site for U.S. migrant in exchange for $5.1 million (as of late 2025).

UED stance: These funds serve only to the sustain the absolute monarchy while 63% of Swazis live in poverty. The 2025 Protest

B) ICC Referral & Legal Action

The UED is petitioning the International Criminal Court to investigate crimes against humanity stemming from the June 2021 civil unrest, where protesters and bystanders were injured or murdered by state security personnel. We are collecting 100,00 signatures to trigger a UN Security Council referral. IB at the Hague

We continue to lobby the South African Parliament regarding cross-border police abuse and maintain a dedicated support program for Eswatini activists living in exile. Our Exile Gallery
